The Movement DMO Charity was born from both love and personal experience. After losing my son, Darius, a talented athlete who achieved the dream of playing in the National Basketball Association, I realized that many gifted young people — and their families — are not fully prepared for the pressures, challenges, and realities that can come with opportunity, success, and life at the next level.

Through many late-night talks with Darius, I came to understand his deep vision and passion for helping youth succeed both on and off the court. Those conversations revealed a desire not only to excel in basketball but to inspire, encourage, and guide the next generation through mentorship, leadership, and life preparation.

While talent can open doors, young athletes often face emotional, psychological, social, and personal obstacles that can impact their future long before they fully reach their potential. Mothers, fathers, guardians, and families also face challenges as they try to support and guide their children through highly competitive environments and life-changing opportunities.

Our mission is to help prepare motivated and gifted youth in elementary school, middle school, high school, and community college for life’s opportunities in sports and beyond. We are committed to helping youth develop academically, athletically, mentally, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and personally.

We also strive to help prepare gifted athletes for higher levels of competition — including collegiate and professional opportunities such as the National Basketball Association — while emphasizing character, discipline, emotional wellness, life skills, and purpose beyond the game.

In addition, we desire to support mothers, fathers, guardians, and families by providing mentorship, encouragement, resources, and a strong community of support as they help guide their children toward healthy and successful futures.

Through this organization, we hope to turn pain into purpose by helping young people and families overcome the physiological and psychological obstacles that too often destroy dreams before they have the opportunity to fully develop.
